The T.A.G. Mobile Classroom
The T.A.G. Mobile Classroom
T.A.G. - Totally Against Graffiti has been recognized as one of the best Public Works programs in the USA by the National Association of Counties, and goes to the root of the graffiti problem in Los Angeles County – Education. Now in it’s fifth year, the program focuses on elementary school children to provide education about the costs and consequences of graffiti, and rewards schools whose students have made significant efforts to report graffiti for cleanup.
A key outreach tool is the T.A.G. Mobile Classroom, also known as the "TAG RV." The T.A.G. Mobile classroom regularly appears at community events, distributing flyers, keychains and coloring books to kids to achieve its educational goals. The T.A.G. Mobile classroom also visits over 180 Los Angeles County elementary schools that participate in the T.A.G. - Totally Against Graffiti program.
A key tactic in the fight against graffiti is to reward the elementary schools and their students for achieving increased reporting of graffiti, and for showing excellence in cleaning up their schools and neighborhoods. Each month, schools are selected to receive special recognition for their achievements, and to receive rewards such as cookies, pizza, keychains, or tickets to sports parks and events for the entire school. The T.A.G. Mobile classroom serves as the distribution point for these rewards, and incorporates educational messages and presentations at many of its appearances.
